Ryan Braus was born in New Iberia, Louisiana in 1980. He began his law enforcement career with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office in 2005. In 2008 he relocated to Lubbock Texas and has since worked his way through the ranks to his current position as the Assistant Chief Deputy in the Lubbock County Detention Center.

Ryan Braus attended high school at New Iberia Senior High in New Iberia, Louisiana, prior to finding his calling in Law Enforcement. He is married to his wife, Rebecca, and has three children.

 

 

Summary of Qualifications

2008 – Present

Ryan Braus began his service with Lubbock County as a line officer, during that time he served on the transition team for the newly constructed Lubbock County Detention Center. He later promoted to the position of Corporal where he trained other line staff personnel. He later promoted to the level of Sergeant, where he was engaged in the day to day operations of shift operations and took ownership of the training team on his shift. He later promoted to the position of Shift Lieutenant. While in this position he facilitated a staffing analysis which contributed to the transition from 8 hour shifts to 12 hour shifts. He also researched and led a team to establish the “Step-Up Program”, which was designed to reduce the reliance of Solitary Confinement for chronic behaviorally challenged inmates. In 2016, he was promoted to the position of Captain and Director of Programs and Accreditation. In August of 2021, he was appointed to Assistant Chief Deputy for the Detention Center where he currently serves.
