Employee of the Month: February 2026

Please join us in congratulating our February employee of the month, Clerk Vasquez! Clerk Vasquez works in the Lubbock County Detention Center. Clerk Vasquez noticed a decades-old clerical error stemming from a contract vendor change. She made it her personal mission to reconcile the error. Clerk Vasquez contacted multiple involved vendors and navigated a sea of red tape. Her persistence paid off when she was able to correct the error last month. We are extremely grateful to have such a dedicated public servant on our team and are proud to name her our employee of the month.
Employee of the Month: January 2026

For January, we had not one, but two, Employees of the Month selected. Officer R. Lara and Officer D. Hinsley from the Lubbock County Detention Center, hold the title jointly this month.
While being transported in a Sheriff’s unit, an inmate experienced a significant medical event. Officers Lara and Hinsley responded to the transport vehicle and recognized that the inmate was in need of immediate aid. The officers worked together to perform life-saving measures until EMS could arrive. The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office is grateful for their quick decision-making and commitment to public service. We are proud of our officers and we hope Lubbock is too!

Employee of the Month: October 2025

We would like to congratulate our Employee of the Month for October, Detention Officer B. Guerrero. Officer Guerrero is assigned to the night shift, where he frequently works in the intake area. The intake area is where inmates first come to jail, where emotions are high, and the likelihood of contraband is highest. Officer Guerrero consistently does very well in this high stress assignment.
