The Detention Center is staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Most staff works 12 hour shifts and reports to the on-duty Watch Commander.

Detention Officers hold a Basic Jailer’s Certificate through TCOLE and are eligible to join the Honor Guard and Detention Response Team.

Detention Officers

Detention Officers are tasked with overseeing the care, custody, and control of the inmates remanded into the custody the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office. The oversee housing units, recreation access, dayroom usage, meal services, educational activities, and day to day operations in the facility.

Entry Level Detention Officers

Entry Level Officer is the title given to Detention Officers who take on more administrative tasks related to booking and releasing inmates. These officers are typically stationed in Processing and handle arrest paperwork, fingerprinting, mugshots, criminal history checks, visitation, bonding paperwork, and court documents.
