The Uniformed Operation Division includes employees assigned to Courts, Patrol, and Fleet Services.

All Deputies in this Division receive continual in-service training to keep current on the ever changing laws and Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) required training. They are all subject to reassignment to assist the Patrol Division if needed. Additionally all members of the Civil Division may serve on special teams such as SWAT, Honor Guard, and Negotiators.

All sections of the Uniformed Operations Division report to the Uniformed Operations Captain through their chain of command.

Courts

Deputies: Court deputies are assigned to the County Courthouse. They respond to any disturbance inside the courthouse and surrounding county owned buildings during their normal business hours. The deputies that are assigned to this division have various assignments including but not limited to the protection of the Judges, County Employees, incarcerated individuals that have a court appearance, and Civilians that enter the Lubbock County Courthouse. The deputy’s duties and responsibilities include: the security and control the courthouse, executing warrants, patrolling county buildings and parking lots.

Bailiffs: The county also employees bailiffs who have the responsibility of overseeing jurors summonsed for jury duty. Bailiffs ensure the trails and court proceeding run smoothly by standing by during proceedings.

Security Screeners: The Courts division assigns Security Screeners to each entrance of the courthouse. These individuals screen every person who enters for prohibited items. They also monitor cameras and security points within the building.

The court division continuously trains on new security screening techniques due to the ever changing prohibited items and updates. The courthouse deputies also receive tactical courthouse operations training for the safety of all Judges, Lubbock County Employees and Civilians.

Patrol

Patrol is the heart of the Law Enforcement Division. Patrol Deputies are the first responders to any call for service or call for help inside Lubbock County making them the most visible part of the Sheriff’s Office. Patrol Deputies are responsible for enforcing the laws of the State of Texas, conducting preliminary investigations, executing warrants, and conducting patrol activities in order to help maintain a safe community. Patrol deputies lend assistance to all other divisions of the Sheriff’s Office and assist all other Law Enforcement Agencies inside Lubbock County when needed.

Patrol deputies answer calls for service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Patrol Division has three ten hour shifts which are scheduled in a way that maximizes the number of deputies working during times of high call volume.

Fleet Services

The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office has an in-house mechanics to service our vehicles. Each Mechanic is also a TCOLE licensed Jailer and may be assigned to oversee or teach skilled inmates to help work in the Fleet Service Unit. In additional to the vehicles used by the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office, the LSO Fleet Service also works on vehicles used by different county departments including Road and Bridge, and County Maintenance.
